St. Laurence Names Sean Mele '89 Dean of Student Performance

BURBANK, IL - St. Laurence High School is excited to announce the hiring of alumnus Sean Mele ‘89 as the school’s new Dean of Student Performance.

A resident of Tinley Park, Mele most recently served as the Director of Admissions at Marian Catholic High School, where he also previously held the position of Dean of Students. His career in Catholic high schools began in 1996, when he began working at his alma mater. In 1997, he became the first St. Laurence graduate to be named Head Varsity Football Coach, a position he held until 2000. After his time at St. Laurence, Mele worked at Marist High School from 2001-2008.

"I would like to thank Joe Martinez and Kristy Kane for giving me the opportunity to come back to St. Laurence,” said Mele. “I've been a Viking since 1985 and I can't wait to begin working with our students. Coming back ‘home’ means the world to me, and I'm extremely grateful."

As Dean of Student Performance, Mele will build relationships with students in order to ensure their success in high school and beyond. He will help identify issues that affect academic performance in the areas of attendance, discipline, and behavior, all while helping develop leadership, communication, and self-management skills.

“We are thrilled to add someone to our team who possesses the wealth of Catholic school knowledge that Sean does,” said St. Laurence Principal Kristy Kane. “His experience, along with his pedigree as a St. Laurence alum, gives me confidence that he will make meaningful connections with our Vikings and help maximize their potential as students and members of society.”
